Run to the Future
2K and 5K
AT QUEEN ELIZABETH OLYMPIC PARK
Sunday 15th September 2024
Run to the Future at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
Come and join former British athlete, Richard Whitehead MBE, and Broadcaster/DJ, Adele Roberts, on Sunday 15th September for a special run they’ve created that’s all about celebrating diversity, being yourself and making sport a more accessible, inclusive place.
It’s called RUN TO THE FUTURE. And it’s for EVERYONE.
There’s a 2K and 5K route and it’s totally accessible so regardless of ability we’d love you to take part. In fact, if you’ve never taken part in a run before and want a challenge this is the event for you!
A RUN FOR EVERYONE
If you have an impairment and need someone to help you run, walk or push to the finish line you can request a trained Support Runner when you sign up. There will also be plenty of LGBTQ+ advocates and members of other underrepresented communities cheering everyone along the course.
So sign up now and join us for an incredible day out.
Medal and water are included. Timing chips will be available for anyone wanting an official time.
All entry fee proceeds go to the Richard Whitehead Foundation.
This event will be filmed for use in a documentary TV series about diversity, equity and inclusion in sport.
The series is brand-funded by Nissan. By signing up and participating in the event, you are agreeing to your image being used as part of the documentary content.
Do you need a Support Runner?
In partnership with the Nissan Possibilities Project, the Richard Whitehead Foundation has set up a Supported Runner Project. Their volunteers are experienced runners who have been trained to provide disabled people with the support, access, encouragement and motivation they need to take part in a running event.
If you would like to know more about how the Supported Runner Project could help you participate in the Run to the Future event, follow the link below. You will have the opportunity to ask for a Support Runner to support you during this event in the post checkout form.
*The support runner programme is now CLOSED for this event*
THE COURSE
The event starts and finishes in the shadows of the London Stadium, where Richard Whitehead MBE won gold in T42 200m at the 2012 Paralympic Games.
The accessible 2k and 5k routes will take runners past the iconic ArcelorMittal Orbit with views of the famous Aquatics Centre. A truly inspiring venue and the perfect location to bring everyone together for the first ever Run to the Future event.
THE VENUE
The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park is the home of the London Stadium, a venue that has witnessed some amazing movements from both the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Situated in Stratford, London, the park is one of the most inspirational and memorable places to run whether you’re participating in your first ever event or an experienced athlete. This is a truly unmissable experience.
